Please bring $5 for the class fund tmr. The large amount collected is due to the shortage of funds we are having. Currently, there is only $15.05 in the class fund as I have used $34.20 on the lamination of the map and dynasty chart.

The money collected will be used to purchase the GP file, ($20.90/ 0.5 dozen). The voucher won is only $50 and I have used some of it to purchase half a dozen today.

I apologise for the blood-sucking and I hope you will understand and co-operate. Hoepfull,y we will be able to organise a class outing with the funds.

Hello guys=) If you have heard about the carnival announcement on friday morning, you should get an idea of this particular event. Basically, a group of students of 0815 are organising a service - learning project, and under this project, they intend to hold a carnival in NYJC , aiming to raise a total of $5000 which would be donated to the Children Cancer Foundation.

In this project, a carnival would be set up consisting of 20 stalls, which will be spanned across various different aspects, ranging from food and drinks to games and merchandise.
Date of carnival: 25 April 2009, Saturday( college day)
Time: 10 am to 6pm
During the carnival, coupons would be used instead of money.

Restrictions: 1) If the committe isn't able to clinch any sponsorship, then the particicpating class would have to pay a portion of the operating cost.
2) Homecooked food would not be allowed
3) Students are only allowed to sell food that requires little preparation.


This upcoming carnival can be used as our initiated service learning project, and please do consider about it. The choice is either we plan and initiate our OWN SL event ( such as going to IMH) , or we engage in this carnival. Majority wins, of course.

I would need everyone's reply ASAP so that i can make decisions. SO, please leave a reply at the tagboard regarding this event. Thanks=)

Due to the half-day off we are having on next Tuesday, 31/3/09, the chemsitry lesson and x'tra lesson has been postpone to Friday, 3/4/09, after the last lesson. I agree to it, because firstly, the lecture test is coming up next fortnight. Secondly, we will miss a very important practical lesson. Your kind understanding is dearly appreciated.

I wanna post a request by our SM2 scholars before school close. Denis' buddy (sry I still got bad memory, forget name), approached me beofore the hols and ask for a day when the class will be free. They will like to ask us out for a meal.

It's holidays =) Rest well but work hard at the same time k? =D Here's some gentle reminders and info on maths:

1) Tutor Consultation
Mr Heng's consultation slot is on Week A (tues) 2pm - 4pm & Week B (tues) 3pm -5pm.
For week A tues, we are only free from 2.30pm to 3pm (since we have chemistry extra lesson starting from term 2) and 4.30pm - 5pm for week B tues. (chemistry practical ends at 4.30) *sigh* I don't think 1/2 hour is enough for consultation =( I guess we have to consult the other maths tutors during our available slots if necessary.

2) Extra questions for APGP & binomial theorm
Please download them ( under My Folder : JC1 H2 Maths) and practise those questions as revision for the upcoming test!

Regarding the star, I will like to seek permission to use the class fund for competitions. Like the upcoming Rubik Cube compeition, it is a form of class representation, and I think as the most basic form of support, the class sponsor the participants the participation fees. I urge all of you to consider to use this way to support our freinds. However, if you guys strongly object, I will top the $2 back from my pocket, as it is a form of disrespect to the class. So consider about it.

As for the $4, I will like to collect them ASAP. Extras will go to the class fund for subjects and other beneficial purposes. I won't eat them up and it will be a responsibility for me to make sure they are not abused.

Your trust upon me is deeply appreciated. I will do my very best to serve u better. =D

Every GP Rep must post a review or reflection of the “Get Ed!” by the end of this week (which means I must post a review before 12 today), according to the teacher who was in charge of the briefing last Monday. So, I have to write down something to show the teachers that I was paying full attention during the lectures on that day.
First, I think the “Get Ed!” is interesting and useful to us because I got to know more about the world. For example, mass media is used to define a section of media meant to reach out to a large group of audience and it was coined in1920s (First book is Diamond Sutra in ninth century). This lesson is significantly relevant to J1s who will be enjoying our project work this year… as the mass media is now an integral part of most research processes due to the advent of Internet which allowed many print materials to be uploaded. Moreover, Internet information is only as reliable as the person or an organisation which posts this information. The domain address can be an indicator of reliability. Therefore, we must NOT use the information from Wikipedia, online forum or personal blogs and websites for our Project Work.
Next, I have learnt from a lecture which was “Mathemedia” that mathematics is a medium of communication. It is the language of nature and universe. It is an endeavor of the human spirit as it communicates deep ideas and concepts. Numbers, statistics and graphs are all forms of media. Nowadays, media has changed the way that mathematical instruction is being carried out.
Lastly, the Globalisation and Popular Culture is also a important topic for us. If you have the following food items, please get them ready and bring it when I announce once again. Basically, we need to prepare either 2 Single Packs or a Family Pack.

Single Pack:

• Rice 2.5kg pack (1)
• Biscuits 800g (1)
• Milo 400g tin (1)
• Condesed Milk 390g tin (1)
• Sardines 425g tin (1)
• Curry Chicken 300g tin (1)
• Baked Beans 425g tin (1)

Family Pack:

• Rice 5kg pack (1)
• Cooking Oil 2kg bottle (1)
• Instant noodles 5x85g pack (2)
• Biscuits 800g (1)
• Milo 1.5kg tin (1)
• Condensed Milk 390g tin (2)
• Sardines 425g tin (2)
• Baked Beans 425g tin (2)

1. If you have the above items, and their expiry date is after July 2009, please get them ready for collection.
2. If you feel that you do not want to bring them, I suggest to collect $4 per person to buy the items. Afterall, we are doing a good deed. The changes will then proceed to the class fund (drying up) for future use.
